This is Ashley and TC’s engagements. Sadly, the wedding won’t be making it to the blog. They are getting married in Mexico. I told Ashley that I am always open for destination weddings- and she can still “persuade” me to go if she wants.
All Ashley asked me for was green grass and sunflare- I think I delivered!

Right before we were getting ready to leave, the setting sun shot two shafts of light across the field. Perfect amount of haze!! I love the highlighted grass as well- they are standing in that long stream of sunlight.

As much as I dearly love color and the color of those shots above. I think the black and white looks just as well. Let’s the emotion speak and not the color…

Misty: great pics! and your right...she got what she asked for :)
sarah barbo: one of my favorite couples!!! their pics are beautiful as always. oh and i tried to drop the hint i was available for hair and makeup for their destination wedding. lol. we should road trip it!!! hehe
I recently fell victim to one of those “as seen on TV” products – a Ped-Egg. Jack and I were in Walmart the other week, when he saw one of these ped-eggs hanging at the end of the cereal aisle- (product placement is always peculiar at walmart…) Anyway, he said “Mom- you need one of those…” This child is destined to go broke shopping from infomercials. According to him, we need the rollout flowerseed blanket, those upside down tomato plants, a shamWOW, I need Jenny Craig he told me on Monday, and he knew exactly what the Ped-Egg was. My child thinks my feet need help, maybe I do. So I brought one home- and used it once. In my humble opinion, Ped-Eggs really don’t work that well for their advertised purpose. We have found an alternative use which seems perfect.
This week has been so busy, I wrote the other day about computer issues. Well, we’ve had plumbing issues as well. The front bathroom had some plumbing trouble this week. When it rains, it pours, right? As it turns out, we really don’t have plumbing trouble. What we have is trouble that is spelled S p e n c e r. What do you get when you mix a toddler and a ped-eggand a potty? Yeah… Interestingly enough, a ped-egg is especially designed to not only flush easily, but is also ingeniously shaped to perfectly contour to the inside of a toilet. Once inside, that thing doesn’t come out! That thing was wedged so tight in there- poor Stu. He had the toilet outside, was laying on the ground and trying to pry this ped-egg out of the that toilet (I’m sure saying choice words about whoever brought the thing home….) Ped-Eggs are also pretty well constructed and take a good deal of force to break apart. Stu said he was sorry he broke the ped-egg when he pulled it out and I couldn’t use it anymore- I assured him that was fine by me….
Here’s a session from the other day- really sweet girl and her mother’s world!

melanie kitterlin: Shanna, These are WONDERFUL! Chels is my neice and you are definately a work of art! God Bless, Melanie
Chelsey: I Love them! I Can't wait to see the rest. Thanks So Much and God Bless Ya!
Amanda: yeah, don't buy a sham wow. that guy beats up hookers...for real.
admin: Amanda- You crack me up!
Today was a good day. I made progress and overcame a few well entrenched photography “fears” I have. Those being:
1. My fear of the “not so newborn” baby.
2. My fear of sun and white shirts. Humans wearing reflectors basically.
So about the baby…. I have bided my time and waited patiently for a session to meet this baby. She completely lived up to all my expectations. I would classify this baby as a perfect example of Cuddle bugbaby. In all the genres of babies, I would say the the cuddle bug baby has to be my favorite. Jackson taught me the meaning of ”Bear Grylls in training baby”- they are hard to hold, a firm and tense baby with jerky movement and head that bobs around. This baby is destined to be the toddler who loves outdoors, the swing from the chandellier kiddo and whose mother emphatically says- ”I just don’t understand why I can’t lose weight with all the running and chasing I do!!” No- the baby I got to hold today would definately be the Cuddle bugbaby: soft, squishy and plump cooing baby who just melts into your arms. But, it’s well known that I’m a sucker for baby chub any day. She was also very well behaved! She took a bottle and went straight to sleep. As Pinky Dinky Doo would say- You don’t see that everyday! All those ideas about babies being easier the younger they are- out the window! I also must be living right because I can not believe my good fortune at getting babies that will curl up on the their bellies- I think this is 6 in a row now? That’s gotta be a record!
Here is baby Emma…

I know that was my third baby in a row in that pose- but you have no idea what an accomplishment it is to get a baby into this position!
On to number 2.. I think my faves from the day are the family shots. Even though Dad wanted to be done and gone- even though little Ava is two and photo sessions just don’t work in that a 2 yr old’s agenda very well- even though I dearly heart sun but that doesn’t usually work so well for me with white clothes…. I think they turned out rather exceptional! Not much posing- my family sessions have turned into one quick posed shot and the rest just interraction. They may not have perfect hand placement or perfect little smiley faces. But the natural ones are always my favorite. The way a mother looks at her children always speaks volumes. I remember taking some pictures of a friend just brushing her daughter’s hair. I was struck later at how much love she conveyed in such a simple task as brushing hair. Moms rock!

Misty: I am in awe!!!!! Thanks Shanna!!!!
Monica: These are wonderful pics! Emma is going to be as photogenic as Ava!
Since I dragging behind- I thought I would finally post those bridals I teased about last week.
Love them!

Gayle Miller: Well worth the wait!! I love the last two. I especially love the glint in her eyes on the last shot. That's Rae!!! Beautiful.
I am still around and kicking. Although it feels more like I am struggling and fighting to make my way up to catch my breath after having done a canonball off the high dive. I can see the shimer of light, but it sure is taking a while to get to the top! Whew…. I am so avalanched with work right now. Just as I need to work my quickest and more efficient, our old friend Murphey comes to visit. My computer was giving me serious issues this week. I really wanted to be that person holding a sledge hammer over a computer in that poster….. remember that one? The caption read- “press any button to continue” Ha… life as we know it…
Amanda: you should come over to the mac side....
Just one more today before I am off to shoot Rae & Josh’s wedding! Yay!! Today’s the big day for those two! I’m happy about that since I’ve been dying to post pics from her bridal session!

It’s Dance time!!!!

sarah barbo: well you know i'm a little partial to the "ghost buster girls" but all of the girls are just beautiful. thanks for capturing yet another memorable moment for all of us. your talent is limitless.
Tammara Gresham: Well, as hectic as dance pictures always are, this is actually one of my favorite times of the year. These girlies always enjoy getting dressed up and posing for you. You always do such a great job, and this year is just another example of that. Thanks for sharing your gift with us!
Brenda Humphries: All of your pictures are wonderful! Thanks for the beautiful shot of Sydnee Kate.
Wendy Ashley: Great job Shanna! I can't wait to see the rest of the pictures. I love the girls poses.....precious!
Kim Ganey: Wonderful as always! This certainly makes me miss Claire...this time of year was hectic and wonderful!!!!
Just a few today- I am out the door for another round of dance pictures. I am crazy busy this month, Thank you God. I never want to complain about being so busy, even when I am tired and staying up until 1 or 2 am. If anything, I am just so in awe of how God blesses and takes care of us. Case in point- Recession. Everywhere you hear gloom and doom and bad news. Admittedly, I was scared. I even was contemplating trying to get a teaching spot for the fall- to have a guaranteed income. So I prayed, send up a prayer for guidance. Thank you God for blessing me with lots of steady work! So much so, that I am not taking any further appointments for the month of April (newborn babies excluded!!!!) I am also booked up every weekend in May, but open for weekday spots beginning May 11th.
Okay so here is Michelle & Skipper-

HAPPY FIRST WEDDING ANNIVERSARY Justin and Tamala Keiffer!!!!!
Lauren Procell: I love these. I told her my favorite was by the water where she was squatting down. Looks like we have the same taste!
