2 Things acutally…

1. art camp         2. Beach

1. Art Camp.  What kid doesn’t get bored in the summer?  and let’s be honest, this is Okra, LA – not much happening, you know?   You have the Olla pool, Library Day, a few Vacation Bible Schools and um- the Olla pool???    I personally am a much better mom when my kids are entertained and not sitting around making use of that ear-grinding phrase.  “MOOOOOMMMMMM, I’m soooooooooo BORED!!!!!!!!!!!!!”   So- I usually jump at the chance to find something my kids will enjoy and be a tad bit creative.  So, I am thinking of hosting a local artist from Winnfield, Cyndi Beaubouef, at my studio for a few Children’s Art camps.   I know the Cultural Center does offer a few classes in July & August, but my kids have never been old enough for those since it’s 1st grade and up.   Besides, I think the projects she is offering are terribly cute!   She is currently filling spots for her classes at the Pea Patch in Winnfield, but I asked if she may be interested in coming to Olla and she totally is (if enough kiddos participate.)  Oh, I should mention that Cyndi is a teacher and a terrific mom to her two small princesses- so your babes would be in excellent hands!

Here’s her class list, tenative dates and her information.    Kids 3 and up are welcome, and ONLY 10 per class to ensure that each child gets plenty of attention!   First come, first serve!!!!

I feel I should say something about the last time I hosted someone at my studio.  Christmas 2007, I invited a girl to my studio to make handprint/footprint plates- and that turned out TERRIBLY!   She never delivered several plates, but conveniently kept the money and has never been heard from again.  I was, and still am, extremely embarassed about that.  I recommended her to so many moms!  I swore that was my last time to ever invite anyone back to my studio- since I felt responsible for what had happened.   I only bring this up in order to demonstrate how much I like and TRUST Cyndi and I know that what she has to offer will be fantastic!

Now for the second line of Business-  I “think” I may go to the Beach this year.  Anyone interested in a Beach Session at Gulf Shores?  My tenative dates will be somewhere around mid July.     So to just keep this short and sweet, let me know if you are interested!!!

lacey gresham: LOVE!!

Amanda: baller.

I was priding myself on be one heck of an incredible parent with Jack and I making a cake together. Counting eggs, teaching him to measure ingredients (1/2 cup…. 1/3 cup… 2 tsps). Stories that begin like that for me never end well- karma baby…. Anyway, I am spraying a bundt pan and hear a “Mommy” coming from behind me. I turn around to see Claire grasping her hair saying, “I only did a little bit Mommy”- I muttered a confused what??? and then let out a long gut-wrenching “NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO CLAIRE!!!!!!!!”

Yes, she did it. Somehow, she got a stool and a pair of scissors and gave herself only what can be described as a mullet, or a “femullet” since she’s a girl.   She seemed not to realize why I was screaming- she was proud of her handiwork.   I tried to explain that, baby, it’s not 1986 anymore-  and the two-haircuts-in-one appearance or that “business in the front and a party in the back” just doesn’t work anymore.  Shortly after that, I don’t know what happened to me- I had pretty much a break down…. witnessed by Tammara and then Wendy.  My poor baby’s hair… maybe it’s silly to cry over cut hair or spilled milk. I know it’s not the end of the world, but it’s change. I don’t do so well with change I guess.  Tammara helped call me to my senses and suggested at the risk of sounding insensitive that I needed to take pictures.  So I did and then I called a good friend, Andrea, in tears begging for help and how could she refuse me? Thank goodness for her! Her husband had back surgery and now she was without power from the storm, but still helped me out. I owe her!

Wendy gave Claire some great advice-  Remember who you are and most importantly WORK THAT HAIRCUT!!!   Andrea gave us a choice, either cut it all off now up to her ears or try to blend as best we can and then use bows and headbands until it grows out a bit more and just keep phasing the mullet out.  We went with phasing and bows.  But for now, she totally is working the do…

Gayle Miller: Just think of the memories you have made!! Bad event can become wonderful memories. She is still cute as a bug. Mamaw Gayle loves her some Clair bear.

Tammara Gresham: Only Miss Claire Bear can work out a mullet like that. You Go Girl!!!!! Still as beautiful as ever!

Amanda: at least she didn't loose any of her sass... look at those head shots!! :) ps can we see some pics of spencer soon? I want to see how big he is!!

melinda hatten: Natalea cut her hair about 4 months ago. She didnt have a whole lot to spare, so she is forced to wear a ponytail everyday. I live close to Helen's shop and I ran in there holding her in my arms as if she was not breathing and in a panic. There was nothing Helen could do for us, so we are still "growing out", I feel your pain Shanna!!!

Amanda: yayyy! too precious! Thank you! send everyone my love!

Lacey: YAY! it's her Lacey hair :) lol She looks precious! A princess can rock any look!

Dena: I think Tristan said it best, "She still looks pretty, momma!" I feel the same!!

Dena: Spencer is too funny!! What a stinker!!

Wendy Ashley: Man Shanna, Claire has generated some buzz...lol! I love the collage of the boys. It reminds me of playing outside with my brother. Great memories!

Amanda @ My Everyday: I just searched "Claire Bear" and got this post. This was almost exactly a year before MY Claire Bear was born!! She's adorable BTW!
